BUTCH DELLECAVE AWARD

June 17th, 2008

The Dellecave Award is given to the most outstanding boys and girls Suffolk High School athletes. This is the seventh year of the Dellecave award, named after Guy Dellecave, a guidance counselor from Connetquot, a basketball official and one of the founders of the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame. Fifty-six of Suffolk County’s sixty-five high schools submitted candidates.

BUTCH DELLECAVE AWARD 2008 WINNERS

Jessica Russo, St. Anthony Alex Aurrichio, Half Hollow Hills

St. Anthony’s Jessica Russo earned the female high school Dellecave Award after she led the Friars to three CHSAA girls lacrosse championships in the past four years. She won the Nassau-Suffolk CHSAA title and will play at powerhouse
Northwestern next season.

Alex Aurrichio of Half Hollow Hills West, Soccer, Basball and Basketball.  Aurrichio was an All-State goalkeeper; the workhorse center/power forward who earned
All-Conference honors and earned the Suffolk League IV MVP and Gold Glove award.

The girls finalists were:
Jessie Stavola of East Hampton, Shannon Smith of West Babylon and Courtney Paige Cox of Bay Shore.
The boys finalists were: Tom Palasek of Rocky Point, Brock Jackolski of Floyd and William Slinkosky of Sachem North.
