Touro College Educational Leadership Program

Touro College Cohort

The schedule for the first class in the Touro Administration Program, EDU 611, has been confirmed.  The class will be held at Mercy High School in Riverhead.

NIMS and ICS Training Is Now Available Through Dellecave Institute

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TRAINING

Earn Professional Development Credit or PDP hours AND help your school district meet requirements set forth by the Department of Homeland Security.

Mandated for any level of emergency responders and strongly recommended for individuals and Organizations that are part of any emergency planning or response.

We are now offering the following Department of Homeland Security Courses:

ICS 100 - Incident Command Systems
Establish a basic understanding of emergency preparedness and a foundation for higher level ICS training. 4 hour classroom requirement

ICS 700 - NIMS—National Incident Management System
An 8 hour comprehensive class designed for Federal, State, Local and private entities for best practices in all hazards preparedness.

These courses are FEMA certified classes. Successful completion enables the participant to progress towards Management and Supervisory level ICS courses which will also be offered. (can be reviewed below) An additional 3 hour school safety overview will round out the 15 hour requirement in this one credit in-service class.

ICS 200 is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS-200 provides training on and resources for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS. - approx 4 hours

ICS 800A - Course Overview
This course introduces participants to the concepts and principles of the National Response Framework. This course is intended for government executives, private-sector and nongovernmental organization (NGO) leaders and emergency management practitioners. This includes senior elected and appointed leaders, such as Federal department or agency heads, State Governors. Mayors, tribal leaders, and city county officials—those who have a responsibility to provide for effective response.

Class size is limited. This is an interactive classroom

BUTCH DELLECAVE AWARD

The Dellecave Award is presented every year to the male and female senior athletes in Suffolk County by the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame in conjunction with Newsday.  The awards also recognize outstanding academic achievement and community service. 

This is the ninth year of the Dellecave award, named after Guy Dellecave, a guidance counselor from Connetquot School District, a basketball official and one of the founders of the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame.  Fifty-six of Suffolk County’s sixty-five high schools submitted candidates.

BUTCH DELLECAVE AWARD 2009 WINNERS

Marcus Stroman of Patchogue-Medford School District Rachel Wiederkehr of Shoreham-Wading River School District

Patchogue-Medford’s Marcus Strohman starred in basketball and baseball.  As a power pitcher and shortstop with speed, he led Patchogue-Medford into the playoffs. 

He is also a member of the National Honor Society of High Scholars and has been awarded an athletic scholarship to Duke University.

Rachel Wiederkehr is an academic all-american in lacrosse who also starred in field hockey and basketball. She has an academic scholarship to play lacrosse for Ohio State, where she will be in the honors program in the College of Allied Medicine
